Columbus Jazz Arts And Columbus Zoo Team Up For Fifth JazZoo

Powell, OH – The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will be teaming up again this year with the Jazz Arts Group to bring you their fifth annual jazz concert series, JazZoo, presented by Wells Fargo and The Columbus Dispatch.  This year’s series schedule includes:
July 16 at 8 p.m. – Chicago and the Sound of the ‘70s
Let your ears take you back to your youth by the sounds of Chicago blues and the songs that dominated airwaves in the 1970s. Special Guest: Bruce Wermuth.
July 23 at 8 p.m. – Sinatra & The Big Bands
John Fredo is back again this year to pay tribute to the magic of The Chairman of the Board, big band style. Special guest: John Fredo.
August 6 at 8 p.m. – Satchmo & The Duke
A full evening of classic Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington featuring the rich tenor voice and dynamic stage presence of Dwight Lenox. Special guest: Dwight Lenox.
August 13 at 8 p.m. – Gershwin Under the Stars
Michael McElroy and Capathia Jenkins are back by popular demand to lend their powerful voices and celebrate the music of George and Ira Gershwin. Special guests: Michael McElroy and Capathia Jenkins.
Seating will be general admission; individual adult tickets are $27 ($30 day of concert), student tickets are $15 (must show student ID), and a four-concert series subscription is $79 per person. All concert tickets include Zoo admission for the day. Corporate table seating is also available by special arrangement. Seating opens at 6:30 p.m. with food available for purchase during the concert from City Barbeque and Mimi’s Café. Food for corporate tables may be purchased by calling the Zoo at 614-645-3557. There will also be a cash bar available throughout the night. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic and blankets but alcohol, straws, or glass containers of any kind are prohibited.
The Columbus Jazz Orchestra (CJO) is the flagship ensemble of the Jazz Arts Group (JAG), America’s oldest arts organization dedicated to the presentation of jazz. The CJO-which performs over 40 concerts each season-is considered one of the finest jazz orchestras in the world and consists of musicians who are nationally and internationally known as performers and educators. JAG receives ongoing support from the Ohio Arts Council, the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus Foundation.
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is open 363 days of the year 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Labor Day until Memorial Day weekend.  General admission is $12.99 for adults, $7.99 for children ages 2 to 9 and seniors 60+.  Children under 2 and Columbus Zoo members are free.  The Zoo was named the #1 Zoo in America by USA Travel Guide and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA.)  For more information and to purchase advance Zoo admission tickets, visit
