Media Alert: Friday, August 19, 2011
Powell, OH – Join the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Partners In Conservation (PIC) for the 17th annual Rwandan Fete, presented by Thomas & Marker Construction, on Sept. 17 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Waters Edge Events Park.
This magical evening of fun and fellowship includes music, dinner, a live auction and open-air African Marketplace to benefit conservation and humanitarian efforts in Central Africa. Guest speakers Frederick Ndabaramiye and Zachary Dusingizimana, founders of the Ubumwe Community Center in Rwanda, will also take the stage.
In addition, this year’s fundraiser celebrates the 20th anniversary of PIC, an organization founded in 1991 by staff and docents at the Columbus Zoo. The event is under the umbrella of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, which funds the yearly operating expenses for PIC. All monies raised directly support projects in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo to benefit both wildlife and people.
Tickets can be purchased for $65 per individual or $500 for a table of eight. For more information or to purchase tickets please visit www.columbuszoo.org or call (614) 724-3485.
The Rwandan Fete is made possible with the generous support of our event partners Thomas & Marker Construction, University of Phoenix and Mantis Collection.
