Powell, OH - The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the Jazz Arts Group team up to heat up the summer with some cool jazz during the JazZoo Concert Series presented by Wells Fargo Advisors and The Columbus Dispatch. All concerts feature Artistic Director Byron Stripling and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra at Water's Edge Events Park. Seating opens at 6:30 p.m. with the concerts starting at 8 p.m.
July 13 - Rock 'n' Roll Meets the Blues
Join Byron Stripling and the Columbus Jazz Orchestra as they kick off the 2012 JazZoo Concert Series. Columbus rocker Jonathan Elliott of The Floorwalkers will front the band as they play a set of classic rock hits.
July 20 - Ray Charles and the Legends of Soul
With perfect pitch and an expressive voice, Ray Charles combined worlds as diverse as jazz, country, rhythm and blues and gospel. Join the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and special guest Phil Clark for the sweet sounds of Ray's classic songs and legendary figures of soul.
August 10 - A Night in Vegas
Join the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus exclusive small group, VOX, for a fun-filled and high energy performance under the stars. Picture yourself on "The Strip" as the exciting sounds of the CJO electrify the night.
August 17 - That’s Entertainment!: Byron's Birthday Bash
Celebrate Byron's tenth year as Artistic Director of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra with a boisterous show celebrating the trumpet virtuoso and bandleader. Musical comedian Pete Barbutti of The Tonight Show will bring his talents to the stage along with several surprise Columbus Jazz favorites.
General adult admission (which includes Zoo admission for the day) is on sale now for $29, or purchase your tickets the day of the concert at the Zoo entrance for $35. Columbus Zoo members and Columbus Jazz Orchestra subscribers can purchase tickets for $23 prior to the show and $30 the day of the concert. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling the Zoo at (614) 724-3485.
