Former Director of the Columbus Zoo Wins 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award
POWELL, Ohio – The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is pleased to announce that Jerry Borin, recently retired Executive Director of the Columbus Zoo, was recognized as a winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the South Central Ohio & Kentucky region. An independent judging panel made up of regional business, academic and community leaders selected Borin as a winner in the Service category.
Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year is the world’s most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs. The award recognizes entrepreneurial success and the contributions of people who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year celebrates those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses and recognizes them through regional, national and global awards programs in more than 135 cities in 50 countries.
Regional award winners are eligible for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 national program. Winners in several categories of business, as well as, the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, are announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on November 15, 2008. Mr. Borin is a finalist and will attend this event. “I am honored and thrilled to be a regional winner. It’s very exciting to participate in the finals for a national award,” said Borin. The national finals is the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies. The master of ceremonies for the event will be Jay Leno.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children ages 2 to 9 and senior citizens 60+.
