zebra shark and fish

Here at Discovery Reef you can find hundreds of species just below the surface!

Visit the main aquarium for our stunning Zebra Sharks – they’re the big ones with spots!

You might wonder why a Zebra Shark doesn’t have stripes, but they do...when they're young. As these sharks age and grow, they lose their stripes and develop the spotted pattern they'll showcase as an adult.

OhioHealth Tip: As you stroll through the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium today, we hope you’re also soaking up the sun and a little vitamin D. Vitamin D is often called the “sunshine vitamin.” Your body produces it when you expose your skin to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Vitamin D does occur naturally in some foods- mainly fish such as tuna, swordfish, and salmon, fish liver oils, and egg yolks.
