Oh Deer! Did You Know: Reindeer were some of the first animals that called the Columbus Zoo home when it first opened in 1927!
Here are some other fun facts to share at your next family gather or work meeting:
- Both male and female reindeer grow antlers
- Reindeer are so acclimated to cold climates that their noses are specially designed to warm the air before it gets into their lungs
OhioHealth Tip: While an average adult reindeer eats 9 to 18 pounds of vegetation per day, the average adult human is recommended to eat 2 to 3 cups of veggies per day.
