Our commitment to DEIAB is not just an aspiration...It's a fundamental element of who we are.

At the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, we are committed to being a leader in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEIAB) by creating safe, inclusive spaces where every voice is not only heard, but empowered.

We believe in fostering a sense of belonging through representation, role modeling, accountability, and transparent communication. Together, we are shaping a future where DEIAB is not merely an ideal but an intrinsic part of our identity and purpose. Our journey involves developing an expansive DEIAB strategy, outlining clear goals, actionable tactics, and measurable outcomes to gauge success.

Led by the Zoo’s President and CEO, Tom Schmid, and the Zoo's leadership team, we recognize that a comprehensive DEIAB strategy is not a standalone initiative but an integral aspect of our organizational culture, reflecting our values and driving positive change. Join us as we strive for a more inclusive and equitable tomorrow.
