Boo at the Zoo

Guests of all ages are welcome to wear costumes, provided they meet the following requirements. 

Entry may be denied to guests wearing costumes that:

• For the safety and comfort of our guests, adults may not wear costumes that could reasonably be mistaken for those of law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, military members, security officers, or other public safety officials. This guideline does not apply to children.
• Costumes depicting excessive gore, graphic violence, or other frightening or disturbing themes are not permitted.
• Could reasonably cause others to believe the wearer is an actual Zoo employee, Zoo-sanctioned entertainer (actor, actress, musician, or celebrity).
   

• Costumes and clothing should be appropriate for a family environment. 
• Clothing or costumes displaying obscene language, graphics, or other objectionable material are not permitted. 
• Costumes must provide appropriate coverage consistent with a family-friendly environment.
   

• Adults must keep their face visible at all times for identification and safety purposes. Face coverings or face paint that obscure the entire face are not permitted except as required for medical, religious, or approved accessibility accommodations. 
• Costumes must not drag on the ground, or otherwise create a tripping hazard, are not permitted.
• Costumes may not contain sharp or pointed objects, or materials that could accidentally strike another guest. 
• Weapons of any kind, including toy, replica, or prop weapons, are not permitted.

The Columbus Zoo reserves the sole discretion to determine whether attire complies with these guidelines. Guests who do not comply may be asked to change into appropriate attire or leave the Zoo.
