black bear at the columbus zoo

Community Dedication of North America Trek

We promise it was worth the wait.

North America Trek is officially opening on Friday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m.— and you’re invited to be among the first to see it. This reimagined region has come a long way! What once was the oldest area of the Columbus Zoo is now an immersive, conservation-focused experience filled with sweeping views and spacious new habitats.

Join us to help us celebrate this next big step forward — then be one of the first to walk the trails! Plus, don’t miss the brand-new Ohio Center for Wildlife Conservation, where local conservation stories take the spotlight — and where you'll discover ways to help protect the local wildlife we all share a home with.

It’s been a journey to get here, but we think you’ll agree: It was absolutely worth it.

The new habitats create a world of adventure—where river otters glide through the water with playful energy, black bears wander their vast and enriching domain, bald eagles perch majestically, and Mexican wolves prowl freely through their wild expanse. The region also highlight local conservation efforts in the new Ohio Center for Wildlife Conservation, showcasing how we can all play a role in preserving habitats and ensuring the survival of these iconic species.
