Meet the two new bundles of joy at the Zoo! 

Go behind the scenes for an exclusive look at how our dedicated Animal Care team trains and cares for a baby elephant. Watch this incredible moment up close, then see the little one play and explore with enrichment activities that highlight its curious, playful personality.

This experience will rotate between the male calf and his mother, Phoebe, and the female calf and her mother, Sunny. Guests cannot request which pair they see.

Know Before You Go

  • Admission to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is required and NOT included. 
  • Reservations for tours and experiences must be made at least two days in advance. 
  • Guests are not permitted to take photos during this experience. Instead, a team member will assist in taking a photo of you/your party when the Animal Care staff determines it is safe to do so. The experience is in a behind the scenes location and is only accessible to paid guests on the tour.
  •  Guests must be 12 years of age. Guests ages 12-17 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult. Children under 12 are not permitted on this experience.
  • Groups will be combined for a tour of up to four guests.
  • This experience requires physical exertion, including standing, walking, and scrubbing elephants. If a person in your party requires accommodations, including, but not limited to, using a scooter or wheelchair, or may have limited ability to fully participate, you must contact us at 614-645-3488 so that we can create the ideal experience for all guests and the elephants. 
  • Please note that once you have booked an experience, you have secured your exclusive reservation. If you do not attend on your scheduled date or cancel within 48 hours of your tour date, no refunds will be issued.
  • Due to the location of tours within animal habitats and the disruptions external animals can cause, service animals are not permitted on this tour. Please call 614-645-3400 for further information.
