Every fall, Central Ohio families look forward to Boo at the Zoo—a not-so-spooky tradition that brings together costumes, candy, and plenty of smiles. It’s a seasonal celebration and community treasure, thanks to your support of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
This year, most of the fun is moving to Adventure Cove, creating one central hub for fall activities where kids can safely trick-or-treat, explore festive displays, and make memories that will last long after the pumpkins fade.

Festivities for the Whole Family
- Tommy C. Turtle’s Trick-or-Treat Trail – Stop at 13 themed candy stations along the way, each offering treats that are both tasty and responsibly sourced.
- Giant Pumpkin Carving – Watch skilled carvers transform pumpkins into larger-than-life works of art.
- Character Ambassador Fun House – Meet some of the Zoo’s lovable character ambassadors in a colorful space perfect for kids.
- Jesse’s Jack-O-Lantern Journey – Walk among glowing jack-o-lanterns that light up the evening with fall magic.
- Henry’s Character Craze Hay Maze – A pint-sized adventure for kids to safely wander and giggle their way through twists and turns.

- Historic Carousel – Take a spin on this charming ride, a classic Columbus Zoo experience that’s just right for little ones.
Sweet Treats with a Purpose
As you explore, keep an eye out for candy wrapper recycling bins and know that all treats given out are made with RSPO-certified palm oil—supporting the protection of habitats for orangutans and other endangered species that are represented at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. A few stations even feature eco-friendly candy alternatives, helping young guests learn how small choices can make a big difference for wildlife.

- Adults who are not accompanied by a guest younger than 13 years old are not permitted to wear costumes.
- Creative costumes are encouraged and should be in good taste.
- Clothing or costumes with objectionable/questionable material, including obscene language or graphics, are not permitted.
- Any guest wearing clothing or costumes that exposes excessive portions of the skin may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment and is not permitted.
- Full face masks/paint for adults are not permitted.
- For safety purposes, costumes should not be able to drag on the ground.
- Costumes should not contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another person.
- Costumes should not contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
The Zoo reserves the right to ask that your child's mask and/or face paint be removed if it is inconsistent with organizational policies or values. Any guests not wearing proper attire will be asked to either put on appropriate attire or leave the park.
